Born in Jersey City, the Reverend Louis J. Scurti was ordained a Catholic priest in 1973. For thirty-one years, he served William Paterson University as director of the Catholic Campus Ministry, the Bishop Rodimer Catholic Campus Ministry Center (CCMC), and Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel. He was the host of “The Word: Alive and Well,” the Catholic Campus Ministry Communication’s flagship television production, which aired on forty cable networks throughout the country and on his website. Prior to this Father Scurti served on the faculties of-St. Pius High School, Passaic NJ &-De Paul High School, Wayne, NJ. When he served at the William Paterson Bishop Rodimer Catholic Campus Ministry, Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel Father Louis J. Scurti’s ministerial experiences included: Campus Ministry, cable television ministry, coordination of volunteer ministries in service to the poor. He taught Western history and Church history at William Paterson University & St. Peter’s University and his favorite, preaching the WORD. Fr Louis Scurti & Santa Anna
As a retired priest he has celebrated at local parishes, within Passaic, Morris & Sussex counties of New Jersey, as well as visiting parishes in other dioceses, including St. Petersburg, FL, & St. Cecelia, Clearwater, FL. He now serves at: St. John Nepomucene Manhattan, NY, New York Archdiocese & St. Frances St. Frances Cabrini, Roosevelt Island, NYC. Once the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel and Bishop Rodimer Catholic Campus Minisrty Center were completed, Fr Louis Scurti celebrated Masses only at the Chapel where he served the WPUNJ community for 31 years. An artist, whose paintings, Stations of the Cross, hung on the walls of the chapel until a subsequent campus minister removed and destroyed them. His paintings are, as well, as in many private collections.
Fr Louis Scurti is also a NJ & FL licensed marriage and family therapist, and worked closely with the William Paterson University’s Counseling, Health, and Wellness Center. The volunteer programs Father Lou has initiated at the University included: -the annual Thanksgiving Awareness-and Shelter the Homeless programs, which over the years, have netted tens of thousands of dollars directly to county agencies that feed and house the poor. He also initiated outreach programs to:-Preakness Nursing Home, Paterson, NJ-the North Jersey Developmental Center, Totowa, NJ and-Eva’s Kitchen Paterson, NJ

AWARDS & HONORS
Father Louis Scurti was honored with the Haledon Rotary Club’s 2005 Community Service Award.
In 2009 the Passionists honored Fr. Lou with the “Passionist Presence Award” . The William Paterson University Board of Trustees bestowed an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters on Fr. Lou Scurti, at Commencement, 2010.
The last Mass that Father Scurti celebrated at the Chapel was May 30, 2010,
