ANNUAL 9/11 MEMORIAL MASS

The public is invited to the Annual Nine Eleven Public Servants Mass, to be commemorated at noon on Sunday September 11, 2016 at Annunciation Church, 45 Urban Club Road, Wayne, NJ. This annual event honors all public servants, especially those serving in the communities surrounding William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ.
This year is especially significant in light of the many murders of police throughout the country . This annual event began in 2002 when Father Louis Scurti served as Catholic Campus Minister at the Prince of Peace Chapel, WPUNJ, honoring the public servants of the University, Wayne, Haledon, North Haledon, the Passaic County Sheriff’s office, including the police, firefighters, EMT’s, paramedics and public officials of the parish and local communities. MSGR Peter DOODY, pastor, requested that Fr Scurti continue the tradition at Annunciation, after his retirement from catholic Campus Ministry.
MSGR. Patrick Brown will be the celebrant of the Mass and Msgr. Peter Doody, whose father was a Jersey City policeman, will welcome the community and con-celebrate. Fr. Louis Scurti will deliver the homily.
Music will be provided by William Paterson University student music majors, Annunciation choir and the Gospel Choir of Straight and Narrow, Paterson, NJ.
All participants in the ceremonies are members of the parish and local communities. The public is invited to attend. A reception will be provided, hosted by the parish Knights of Columbus. Local, county and State public officials will be invited to attend and offer brief thoughts on the significance of honoring our Public Servants daily.
