  1. Thank you for your BRAVERY. No one in my parish at Our Lady Of Good Counsel spoke up for Christ today in our Homily.
God is God. Christ is Christ. We have Gods law to obey.

    Amen

  2. I remember very well that he prayed for me and later asked how I was doing. Last year was a bit rough acquiring autoimmune disease (RA). On top of that, had my right rotator cuff surgery in October. I just had left rotator cuff surgery about 10 days ago. This one thankfully is healing a lot quicker.

His homily really hit home. Our kitchen table was always open to whomever showed up. My mother made minimum wage. Her one sister (widowed) worked for my uncle part time in his liquor store before retiring. Her oldest sister was never married, was a retired seamstress in a coat factory before retiring and we all lived in my deceased grandparents house. My deceased grandfather was a barber from Sicily. He and my grandmother came through Ellis Island and raised 7 children (2 boys and 5 girls). My 2 uncles were WW2 vets. When my folks divorced (ugly story), my mother at age 50 had to get a job. She worked for min wage in a cosmetic factory before getting an assembly line job in IBM. She was a 2nd generation ibm’er to 4 children who were all working for IBM at that time. Her 2 sisters took us in. I was living there since 10th grade, plus 2 yrs of community college, one year working for another company and then IBM for about 2 years before getting married.

My 2 Aunts and my mother were poor but never turned anyone away from a seat at the table. We have great memories of long after getting our families established of Sunday dinners at mom’s after mass. It didn’t matter that each of our families was growing. Mom expected us to all get together on Sundays at her house for a meal that began at noon and seemed to never end. Fr Lou’s homily really completed the picture for me.
